First time install, setup assistant - errors

Postby _dave_ » Wed Dec 21, 2011 2:25 am

Whee, finally got me a beta code, was lucky to check 2+2 at the right time!

Running through the setup wizard, it's giving me some annoyance that you'll probably want fixed for release.

Firstly, it wouldn't auto-detect my PokerStars installation - it's in the usual place, except on the E:\ drive (This is the system boot drive) E:\Program Files\PokerStars\HandHistory and E:\Program Files\PokerStars\TournSummary

It didn't auto-detect my preferred seating - not sure if it's supposed to or not, but if you want to this info can be found in PokerStars file user.ini. maybe it's supposed to but just didn't because it couldn't find my Stars path on E:\

Most annoyingly, I carefully selected the only site I play on is PokerStars, since I know there is a hundred or so HH files in there from the past couple of days - but it went ahead and auto-imported a load of Boss Media and Microgaming hands, I know these are not in the Stars folder! could have been much worse, at least it didn't find the archive folders and sit there importing for days - but it still took a while and now my database is polluted from play several yeas ago, lol.

The sites it auto-detected (cerius, boss, ipoker, microgaming) are all still set to auto-import "get hands from site while playing". Party was auto-detected, but remains unchecked for auto-import.

There needs imo to be an "edit" button on "Directories configuration". the treeview was annoying enough having to browse through it twice (for HH and summaries), why can't I just copy/paste type it in?

It's saying "PokerStars is not configured to save hand histories to disk". Pretty sure it is.

I told setup assistant not to move processed files, I can take care of that myself - and it didn't move any after initial setup import - but the checkbox in import configuration is checked "move processed files to [long file path]". There doesn't seem to be a toggle for this per-site?

My PokerStars play isn't showing in the graphs and stuff :( but I'll figure that out I'm sure. Oh wait, ficured it out - it defaults to cash graphs/reports, even if it only imported tournament hands. That's something that could be detected easily enough I imagine.

Program looks GREAT, sorry this isn't meant to be overly criticising, just though I'd rattle off any minor problems with the setup assistant right now before I forget, since I'll be sleeping soon and probably not running the assistant again unless there's an updated version I guess.

I blame TT for not inviting you earlier.

This is the root cause of all your PokerStars problems. We use the uninstall keys to detect this which is normally accurate but there might be some 32/64bit issues going on here. Can you create a support ticket and attach a registry dump of either of the following keys to it?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\PokerStars
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\PokerStars

We'll get bugs created for the other issues as well.

Hi Tarix

For the life of me I can't figure out how to make a support ticket :( I can find I have made one in the past, but whenever I try to make one it just directs me to "communities" which is this forum

So I'll just attach it here :)

I only have the first reg key, I'm on trusty old 32bit WinXP SP3, no WoW64 layers here! But the first one does contain the correct E:\ pats as far as I can tell.

.reg files not allowed so zipped up.

Note to any readers - DO NOT DOWNLOAD / RUN RANDOM .REG FILES YOU FIND ON THE INTERNET LOL

Thanks Dave - I'll make sure Tarix sees this.

For future reference, you create new tickets by clicking "Support" at the top of the page, selecting your product and then clicking "Start Here" in the Contact Us section at the bottom right.

Same for me: no auto-detect for PokerStars and claims PS not configured for saving HH to disk, although it is. I'm too running a WinXP SP3 and the UninstallString in the registry points to the actual folder it is installed in (C:\Programme\PokerStars\HandHistory - the german version).
