stars patch where is my database?

Postby riophil » Wed Sep 03, 2008 10:45 am

Hello
I just ran the patch for stars. When I opened omahaPT, error came couldn't find data file .Searched my computer for said file does not exist on my computer.
Does this mean the patch has deleted my database?

The patch doesn't touch the databases. What exact file name does it say is missing?

That's strange. Are you sure you didn't delete or move that file when you downloaded the patch. Look in your PTO program folder. Do you see anything that resembles that file name? Is it in your recycle bin?

I'm certain I did not delete the file. I downloaded patch to a my downloads folder ran from there .Everything appeared to work ok. I have 2 back up mdb files in the pt folder. I changed the name of these 2 files to the ones asked for, now PTO runs but I only have a fraction of my hand historys. When I ran the patch PTO was closed. I've done this before, had PTO for a year and PTH longer. I was using pto last night no problem like many times this year. I have a feeling (hope you can tell me different) that I've lost my database. Thats sad you are telling me the patch dosen't touch database but after running patch no database. I hope if it is a problem in the patch you catch quickly before others lose.

Many people have installed the patch now and I've heard of no other incidents. Are you using Vista? If so go to the PTO program folder and click on the Compatibility Files link/button. Are there any files in this folder with those names? If so, what are the date/times/sizes on them?

That means you weren't always running the program as administrator which you need to be. Move the ptracko.mdb and hhdbo.mdb files back to the PTO program files folder and you should be back to normal. If you want to save those backup files that you already renamed you should rename them to something else before putting the correct files back.
