Why did you enter "postgres2" as the user name on the Utilities > PostgreSQL Settings window? The default user when you install PostgreSQL is "postgres". Please give more details about your setup that you have provided here.

According to your other post you were going to use the same setup that was used for PT3 so you shouldn't have had to install PostgreSQL again to get this message. So once again, how about providing a detailed explanation of your setup. Did you install 2 versions of PostgreSQL?? Be specific.

Here is what to do.

Go to the Utilities > PostgreSQL Settings window in PT and change the user name to "postgres". Save the changes and close PT2.

Then, go to the Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8.3 > Configuration Files > Edit pg_hba.conf (<<- yes, I mean PostgreSQL 8.3 here AND NOT 8.2)

At the bottom of this file, change both places where it says "MD5" to "trust" and save the file.

Now, open PT2 again and try to do the conversion again.

Are you using Vista? If so, go to the Start menu select All Programs > PostgreSQL 8.3 > Config Files and then RIGHT-CLICK on the Edit pg_hba.conf option and select 'run as administrator' from the menu. Then make the changes and save.

Change the port # on the PostgreSQL Settings window to 5432.
