101 - SQL STATE = 08001 error

Hi, for some reason my postgresql just wouldn't start up today. It was working fine literally days ago and nothing has changed with my computer.

I'm using windows vista with UAC turned off, zone alarm with postgresql enabled, postmaster.pid has been long deleted, and I tried starting the service in the admin tools, but it had this error:

"The PostgreSQL Database Server 8.2 service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I've also tried restarting a few times and the error still exists. It's pretty obvious that something is making postgresql unable to start up, but I have absolutely no clue as to what it could be as I have barely used my computer and postgresql worked fine a day or two ago.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

What email did you use to purchase PT? I don't have a record of this one used for the forum.

When did you backup the database last?
