Error #1 wehn trying to use PostgreSQL

I'm getting this error when trying to use PostgreSQL on my pt.

The service isn't running. Go to the Start menu and select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

Find PostgreSQL in the list. Right-click and select "Start". What happens? Does it start or give an error?

It kinda helps. If I restart PostgreSQL through administrative tools it seems to work until I restart windows. Then I get same error again until I restart PostgreSQL again. Is there any fix for that?

Second question: is there any way to merge two PostgreSQL databases together or add data from access database to allready converted PostgreSQL?

Is the PostgreSQL Service setup as "automatic" so that it starts whenever you restart the computer?

Yeah it's automatic. Could reinstalling help? If I reinstall is it enough to make backup copys to import data to new install? Do I have to modify registry to get clean copy or is deleting PostgreSQL folders enough?

I don't know if reinstalling would help or not. Have you just recently installed PostgreSQL or have you been using it for some time now?
If you just installed, have you converted your Access db to PostgreSQL yet?

I just started using PostgreSQL because of access database size limits. I have converted my access db's to PostgreSQL.

OK, then you'll need to use the Utilities > PostgreSQL Database Functions window to backup your PostgreSQL database.

Then uninstall PostgreSQL using Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
Delete the remnants of the c:\program files\postgresql\8.2\data folder afterwards.
Then reinstall PostgreSQL.

After you do that you'll have to restore your database using the restore section of the PostgreSQL Database Functions window pointing it to the .backup file that was made when you backed up the database.

Re installing dindt help, I still have to restart PostgreSQL everytime if I want it to work.

BTW when I checked properties of PostgreSQL service on administrative tools it gives lon on data as .\postgres and long password thats longer than what I typed originally. Is this correct?

Yes, postgres is the user account that is used to start the service and the field is password protected so you can't gauge anything from the number of "*" that you see there.
