Using Pokertracker in vmware under Linux (kubuntu)

Hi everybody.

I successfully set up a running windows virtual machine within my kubuntu linux system. As recommended, I installed postgresql on the linux system and pointed to the database from out of Pokertracker vmware.
I also followed the instructions given in this post:

Still I receive the message that it´s not able to connect to the database.

Error #: 1
Unable to connect to PostgreSQL (Port #: 5432) to get the list of databases. The error was:
101 - SQLSTATE = 08001
could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061)
Is the server running on host "192.168.xxx.xx" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

I posted this problem in the PT3 forum, as I didn´t realize, that there was still a PT2 support forum below. You can find the thread here:

Perhaps it´s better to close one of the threads or move it to the right place in the forums.

I don't support this type of configuration so I don't know that I can be of much help but this error means that the PostgreSQL service is not running. Are you able to use the Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8.2 > Start Service option to start it? See if that works.

Sure - I really don´t expect from you to be able to support any kind of PC configuration.
However I´m pretty sure that the solution of using a virtual windows installation within a linux environment has found and will find more and more users. Perhaps someone else could share his knowledge.

If I´ll find some spare time, I´ll explain in detail, what I did and what the advantages are.

Are you able to use the Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8.2 > Start Service option to start it? See if that works.

The service runs in Linux. The problem is the connection from windows virtual machine (NAT) to the database.
