From the Start menu select Run.
Type COMMAND into the window that opens and hit OK.
This will open a DOS window. Type the following...
net user postgres /delete
and hit ENTER to run this command.
Then type EXIT to close the window and then reinstall PostgreSQL.

When you ran the statement I gave you above, did it give you an error message or tell you the name was deleted.
Do it again. What happens when you enter that text and hit ENTER. What is the message that comes up in the DOS window after you enter it? If it's an error then you didn't type the text exactly as it's been entered above.

Note that there's no space betwee the / and "delete", ie.
- Code: Select all
net user postgres /delete
That caught me out the first time.
