combining databases

I am running PT on both my desktop and notebook and would like to combine both databases if possible. Your instructions (I believe I linked to from a search) say to backup the Postgres database from on PC and then use the restore function on the other PC. However the instructions say (If I am interpreting them correctly) the restore option will drop the existing data and reimport from the backup file. I assume this means I will loss the data on one PC rather than combining data.

Am I interpreting this correctly and if so is there anyway to combine data from the two PC's.
