PT2 Import/Export Player Notes feature question...

Hey all!

I looked for the answer to this question before posting but couldn't find it so...

When using the [bl3r]Import/Export Notes [/bl3r]feature, namely[bl3r] EXPORTING[/bl3r] the player notes, in general, and specifically on Stars, does PokerTracker actually [bl3r]OVERWRITE[/bl3r] the notes in the Stars [bl3r]notes.txt[/bl3r] client folder? Or does it simply[bl3r] ADD[/bl3r] to it?

Conversely, what about when I[bl3r] IMPORT[/bl3r] my [bl3r]notes.txt [/bl3r]file [bl3r]from Stars into PT[/bl3r]? Are [il3r]they[/il3r][bl3r] OVERWRITTEN [/bl3r]or simply [bl3r]ADDED[/bl3r] to that file?

My primary notes I take while I'm playing. However, I also review my play within the PT environment and also take notes there also. Obviously that's why you included the abilty to do that within the PT2 environment.

I also notice[bl3r] 2 .txt files besides the Stars notes.txt file inside the Program/PokerStars folder[/bl3r]. One called [bl3r]PS_Notes_20070605_1.txt [/bl3r]and another called [bl3r]PS_Notes_20070103_1.txt. [/bl3r]

I heard that these are both [bl3r]PT2 backup files [/bl3r]whenever you use the [bl3r]Import/Export Player Notes [/bl3r]feature. (Is one strictly for tourneys and the other cash games?) Is this correct? And if so, can I simply [bl3r]Copy and paste [/bl3r]from these files [bl3r]into [/bl3r]my Stars[bl3r] notes.txt [/bl3r]file to[bl3r] add [/bl3r]to it? (I had to do a fresh install awhile back on Stars and lost all my notes.)

I ask because I notice that the[bl3r] notes.txt [/bl3r]file uses[bl3r] [player=xxxxxx][/bl3r], and the others I've mentioned use [bl3r][username=xxxxxx][/bl3r]. Are they compatible or will I have to copy and paste and then [il3r]change [/il3r]all the [bl3r]"username" [/bl3r]to [bl3r]"player"[/bl3r] inside the Stars[bl3r] notes.txt [/bl3r]file to get Stars to recognize it?

I know I have several questions in here but they're all related for me to understand what I have to do.

If you don't already have it, install the latest PATCH, version 2.17.01g from this link (MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE PATCH INSTALL, the second link on this page, and NOT the full version:

PT overwrites the notes in the file when you do an export. If there is a player in the notes.txt file that isn't in your PT database, that note doesn't get overwritten, it just gets added to the bottom of the file.

Importing notes will overwrite any notes in the PT database with what is in the notes.txt file.

Those files you see are backups of the notes file that PT makes before doing the export.

The formats are different because PokerStars recently changed the format of the notes.txt file which is why I gave you the link to the latest patch above.
