backing up and transfering ."mdb" files

how exactly does one back up ",mdb" data base files in order to transfer them to PT on a new computer. also, where do you back them up to? (external harddrive okay?)

Then,

once they are backed, how do i get them into PT on the new computer. does it have to be done during the new instalation or can they be loaded in afterwards?

You can back them up to any media that will hold them like an external drive, CD, DVD, etc etc.

You need to install PT first on the new PC and then with the program still closed, copy the database files off of the external drive and into the newly installed PT folder on the new PC.

please forgive my difficulty in communicating the precise nature of the problem.

i open poker tracker on my old computer. the familiar gray screen appears. where do i go to find the .mdb files in order to back them up? should i be using a drop down menu from the tool bar. or should i be opening stars since all of my histories are on poker stars. sorry i'm so lost with this but any help will be appreciated. really!

You don't do it in Poker Tracker. You need to close Poker Tracker, right-click on the Start menu and select Explore. Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder and the database files are going to be there.
