problem reaching www.pokertracker.com

It sounds like either your local Windows DNS is really screwed up or you are using some third party software that is messing around with your DNS. I would be surprised if you did not experience this same problem with any other websites that changed IP addresses.

Open 'My Computer', browse to your Windows/System32/drivers/etc directory and open the "hosts" file in Notepad.

Is anything located at the bottom of this file except for:

127.0.0.1       localhost
::1             localhost

Delete everything out of this file except the above. If nothing is there but your two localhost, then add:

74.208.70.249   www.pokertracker.com

File->Save. Then at your command prompt type:

Code: Select all

ipconfig /flushdns

That should resolve the issue. The only problem is that we are unfortunately, changing IP addresses yet again in a few weeks and you will need to update this file at that time.

there was the line "216.227.210.144 http://www.pokertracker.com" in my host file! i think that was the reason.

Yes, that was certainly the problem. How did that get there? If you removed that line then you should be good. Do not add in the updated IP address like I mentioned...

yes it works without the IP you gave me.

The line was inserted long time ago, when pokertracker was unreachable (ISP DNS problem).
